Fujian is one of the earliest province which welcome foreign investment
with open arms. More than 85 thousand foreign investment enterprises
have been set-up to produces electromechanical, textile and other
products to the world. In addition, the province has made themselves
a name in the industries of appliance, garment, shoe and modern agriculture.
The private economy and foreign investment are the main contribution
to the local economy. 60% of the workforce in the province are recruited
and trained to adapt to work abroad. There are more than 70 thousand
workforce who are presently stationed overseas.
The new sectors of industry are growing fast, which include the electronic,
plastic products, precise chemical, petrochemical, chemical fiber,
industries etc.
Industries such as the petrochemical, electronics, textile, metallurgy,
building materials, light industry have greatly contribute to the
Fujian's industrial economy. |

A comprehensive, higher education system comprising universities,
institutes and colleges of science, medicine, engineering, forestry,
agriculture, finance & economics, politics & laws, sports
and arts has been established. The primary and middle school education
has also been universalized in all towns and townships.
At present, the province has 33 institutes of higher learning, 200
secondary technical schools, 283 vocational middle schools and 55
skilled workers' schools. |
