| Shandong Province is situated in the eastern China and on the lower
reaches of the Yellow River. The provincial capital is Ji'nan. However,
the most famous city is Qingdao where most of the commercial trading
is done. |

| The province has a total area of 156,700 km2 and a total of over
87 million. It is located in a warm temperate monsoon climate zone
with average temperature of 11-14oC. |

It ranks first in China in the output of cotton, oil crops, fruit,
wheat, meats and aquatic products. The province also ranks first in
both reserves and output of gold, plaster, petroleum, diamond, natural
sulphur, granite and magnesite.
Since the 80's, Shandong has become one of the fast growing regions
and economic giants in China.
By late 90's, more than 60 thousand foreign companies are found setting
up their companies in Shandaong. The total workforce makeup about
800 thousand skilled workers, engineers and professional. The major
foreign investors are from Japan and Korea, which include electronic
& electrical manufacturing, clinical instrument manufacturing,
textile dyeing, mechanical parts manufacturing, shipbuilding and engineering,
etc.
At present, there are about 10 thousand skilled personnel from Shandong
working in Aisa, Pacific and Middle East region. |
