| Shenyang-the capital city of Liaoning Province, covers 12,980 square
kilometers. She locates in the south part of northeast region of China,
backing Changbai Mountain, facing Bohai Bay. Shengyang is the hinterland
of Liaodong Peninsula as well as the economic, cultural, transportaion,
financial and commercial center in northeast region of China. |

Domestically, Shenyang locates in the area between northeast economic

Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, inner-Mongolia and two cities of
Beijing, Tianjing. Shenyang is under temperate continental climate
with distinct seasons. With a population of 6.67 million, Shenyang

| Shenyang is an old industrial base set up in the first "Five-Year
Plan" as a key project. Now a comprehensive industry system has
formed which mainly involves machining and includes metallurgy, chemical
industry, medicine, textiles, electrical, automobile, aviation, building
material industry, etc. This system is able to produce whole set of
equipment and capable of comprehensive processing. Now Shenyang has
technicians of more than 550,000 including 250,000 persons in natural
science field, which is among tops of the big cities in China. Shenyang
becomes the biggest exchange center of capital, information and intellectuals
in northeast region. |

| In Shenyang, 578 per 10,000 are university grads, equivalent to
over triple of the average in China. And it has 30 universities/colleges
and more than 400 science research institutes. Among them, academic
research of Shenyang Metal Research Institute of China Science Academy,
Forest & Soil Research Institute, Shenyang Chemical Industry Academy
of Chemical Industry Ministry, Shenyang Foundry Academy is in the
lead domestically. In some fields, they are showing up in world. |
